Set Outlook 2003 as default e-mail client under Windows 7 is not working Tuesday, 10 September 2013

Trying to set Outlook 2003 as default e-mail client in Windows 7 but in Control Panel > Default Programs  > Set your default programs – the Microsoft Outlook 2003 can’t be found in programs list. There are several solutions outhere but none works as expected.

Soluti0n 2 – no effect / not working:
Reinstall Microsoft Office/Outlook with or without rebooting the sistem. Remove the Microsoft Office ori only the Outlook then clean install the hole Office or just the Outlook is not working either.

Soluti0n 2 – no effect / not working:
Outlook  > Tools > Options > Other (tab) > thick  [ Make Outlook the default program for … ]

Solutin 3 – partial resolution (the only solution that works):

Download and run the OL2003fix tool. This will add the Microsoft Outlook 2003 in Default Programs but for some reason another error comes up.

The popup error window says: Could not perform this operation because the default mail client is not properly

The resolution for this is registry edit with the string below, in [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\mailto] create a new [String Value] and ad the “” value:

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\mailto]
"URL Protocol"=""

BIG KISS! Well done THANK YOU for that link to the OL2003 fix program – this repaired a problem I have been battling with for MONTHS.

So many forums sites I find had either never heard of this problem or were flummoxed by it.

Well done and thanks again. Brilliant. Hurrah hurrah hurrah 😀
