- Locate *.tmp files under:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Kaspersky Lab\AVP9\Bases\Cache\ - Open KIS/KAV > Settings > Options and disable the Self-Defense option
- Select all *.tmp file and delete (*)
- Open KIS/KAV > Settings > Options and enable the Self-Defense option
(*) There is no need to close the KIS/KAV application before deleting files. Not all file can be deleted, latest *.tmp file (ex. avE.tmp) that is in use can’t be deleted even with KIS/KAV Self Defence disabled.

I personally find Kaspersky 2010 to be very heavy and slow, like a tug boat! They’ve definately started going backwards over the last 12 months.
