2010 Disable Thumbs.db under Windows 7

  • log on Windows 7 as Administrator or with administrative privileges
  • to open the local Group Policy object, click Start, click Run, type gpedit.msc, and then click OK
  • expand the User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Explorer (picture)
  • on right pane of the Editor window “Turns off the caching of thumbnails in hidden thumbs.db files.” click to enable (picture)
