Description: Deletes a service entry from the registry. If the service is running, or another process has an open handle to the service, the service is simply marked for deletion. Also the service can be manually stoped then deleted using the [sc] command.
Tip: [service name] is case sensitive, so type the service name exactly as it is.
Usage:  sc delete [service name]

Method #2 – Using [regedit] command

  • Open Registry Editor (type regedit in Run window)
  • Navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Services
  • Locate the service you want to get rid of and delete its KEY.

  • Locate *.tmp files under:
    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Kaspersky Lab\AVP9\Bases\Cache\
  • Open KIS/KAV > Settings > Options and disable the Self-Defense option
  • Select all *.tmp file and delete (*)
  •  Open KIS/KAV > Settings > Options and enable the Self-Defense option

    • (*) There is no need to close the KIS/KAV application before deleting files. Not all file can be deleted, latest *.tmp file (ex. avE.tmp) that is in use can’t be deleted even with KIS/KAV Self Defence disabled.
