UNI series BM-02B-OP miditower case is another good quality case from Chieftec, at least that is what Chieftec stands for. Let’s see if that statement continue to be true, let’s take a look at the package. The casing comes in cardboard box, wrapped in plastic with two supports for upper and lower ends of embossed cardboard instead of styrofoam. The package content is:
- 1pcs x miditower UNI BM-02B-OP (no PSU is included)
- 1pcs x box with various screws bag and 2pcs of plastic wrapper
The case specifications:
- 3 x 120 mm fan slots – one in front and two on the side panel
- 1 x 90 mm fan slot
- 3 x 5.25″ – external slots
- 3 x 3.5″ – internal slots
- 1 x 3.5″ – external slot for FDD or Card Reader
- 7 x PCI slots
- mainboard support: ATX, mATX
- 456 190 x 420 mm ( L x W x H )
The case is pretty solid but if you press the the top when lids are opened makes a strange sound which makes you think that is not perfectly jointed, and indeed is not so well jointed. However, fortunately, with the covers attached not make a sound. Another manufacturing error is the carving for PSU that is too wide, which leaves a gap of about 4mm between PSU and case wall, yet the clipping for motherboard backplate is perfectly performed, the backplate is easy to install and stays firmly in position.
Inside of the case, as you can see from photos the finishes are in Chieftec style, there is no danger of getting cut on sharp edges. The 5.25″ slots come with a mounting mechanism based no springs to prevent vibrations and for easy assembly / disassembly. The inner face of the plates is well sandblasted, no visible defects.
The plastic front is matte, dark gray color. Circuit board which includes USB ports, audio jacks and LEDs for power and HDD is well anchored, fixed in place. The power and reset buttons have a nice metallic finish and will not cling on press, returning to starting position, perfectly aligned. As well aligned are the front plastic plates that covers 5.25 “and 3.5” external slots, perfectly aligned with no visible gaps.
