Windows Live Messenger – Error 8e5e0158

Application: Windows Live Messenger
Error: 8e5e0158
Message: Signing in to Windows Live Messenger failed because the service is temporarily unavailable
Resolution: Delete Windows Live Contacts folder

How to:

  • Close Windows Live Messenger
  • Locate the folder:
    • Windows XP:  C:\Documents and Settings\<user name>\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft
    • Windows Vista and Windows 7:  C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Local\Microsoft
  • Locate and delete or rename Windows Live Contacts folder
  • Open Windows Live Messenger and Sign in, it may take longer due to rebuild of  Windows Live Contacts folder.

 

Note: to make sure that you got the right <user name> open Task Manager > Processes > see under User Name, this can be different from user name shown by Windows on welcome screen. Note that in Task Manager are also three system users (LOCAL SERVICE, NETWORK SERVICE and SYSTEM), none of them concerns you.

Get root on HTC Wildfire A3333 with UnrEVOked 3.21

First of all many thanks to UnrEVOked team for making this easy and possible, awesome release. Here i put on paper my root experience step by step.

  • OS: Windows 7 x86
  • Phone: HTC Wildfire A3333 (Android v1.25.405.1)
  • Application: UnrEVOked v 3.21
  • Drivers: unrEVOked modified USB driver

Preparations:

  • go to UnrEVOked and download the application according to your installed OS. Direct download links for Windows , Linux or MacOS
  • windows users must download modified drivers, direct link here unrEVOked modified USB driver , unpack the drivers somewhere you will remember, desktop maybe.

Running the process:

  • connect you HTC phone, HTC Sync will run by istself. Press disconnect and and right click on the HTC Sync tray icon to exit the application.
  • don’t unplug the phone and make sure that the HTC.exe process is not running
  • make sure USB debugging is enabled on the phone (see pictures)
  • start UnrEVOked application, is fully automatic, whole process will involve several phone restarts but no worries just don’t intervene for now
  • windows will find new hardware, let it try to install, when fails just manually install by selecting the path to modified unpacked drivers you just downloaded
  • open Device Manager and check  for correct driver instalation on Android Phone > Android Bootloader Interface (see picture)
  • on final step you get [done] message on down side of UnrEVOked application, it’s time check the phone screen (see picture)
  • disconnect the phone or just choose [reboot system now] from the menu shown on the phone screen (see picture)
  • after restart the HTC Wildfire is rooted

HTC Wildfire button functions:

  • volume [+ /-] is for menu up / down navigation
  • power/screen-lock is for back into the upper menu
  • pressing the optical trackpad acts as enter into menu / execute
